For Weirdos, By Weirdos
OK Whatever is an alternative news publication dedicated to all things weird and strange. If you like to read, but hate super-serious stuff, you’ll probably like us. People who don’t take things too seriously and who appreciate D.I.Y. journalism will also like us, too. We’re for anyone with a curious, if not rambling mind; for daring readers with an appetite for learning random things. If you’ve ever been called weird, you’ve come to the right place.
At OK Whatever, we create fun, original articles on a range of topics, and pair them with adventurous and unique artwork created specifically for that story. Edgy, insightful, and risqué, our content — which can be NSFW — includes a mixture of long reads, quick hits, Q&As, personal essays, listicles, How-To's, and infographics. The website is divided up into four sections: WTF (paranormal, myths, fantasy, and anything really strange); Things (culture, food, art, technology, music, etc.); Selfie (fashion, health, beauty); and Naughty (sex, love, and other devious topics).
Based in Oakland, Calif., OK Whatever is made possible by a team of passionate and curious creatives scattered around the globe.
Who We Are
OK Whatever's editor and unapologetic user of exclamation marks, Jessie Schiewe spends most of her time surfing the web and avoiding washing her dirty dishes. Aside from her first job selling cupcakes in Beverly Hills, she has spent the bulk of her career working as a print journalist and editor for the likes of the Los Angeles Times, Honolulu Weekly, and SF Weekly. Things she has written about include fighting acne with snails, wearing pasties in Las Vegas, hanging out with rappers, and getting a tantric massage in her nether regions.
